An IBF super middleweight eliminator between Caleb Plant and Rocky Fielding was ordered earlier this month, but the two sides have thus far been unable to come to an agreement, and the sanctioning body has ordered a purse bid for May 8.
Plant (17-0, 10 KO) and Fielding (26-1, 14 KO) would be fighting for a shot at the belt again held by James DeGale (24-2-1, 14 KO), who defeated Caleb Truax in a rematch on April 7 in Las Vegas, four months after being upset by Truax in London.
Plant, 25, is an unbeaten prospect from Tennessee, and has been featured on many Premier Boxing Champions cards. He most recently fought on February 17, beating Rogelio “Porky” Medina by decision over 12 rounds.
Fielding, 30, has held the British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles. His only loss came in 2015 against rising star Callum Smith, a TKO-1 that he has recovered nicely from in years since.
If this fight comes together, who do you like to win it? Plant is a stylish technician, maybe with more natural skills, but Fielding has arguably been tougher tested to date.
