Jacobs vs Sulecki: Fighters make weight in Brooklyn

Middleweights Daniel Jacobs and Maciej Sulecki hit the scales today in Brooklyn, one day ahead of tomorrow night’s HBO main event from Barclays Center, and both fighters made weight for the bout.

Jacobs (33-2, 29 KO) weighed in at 159.6 pounds, with Sulecki (26-0, 10 KO) at 159.2, both just under the 160-pound limit. It’ll be a 12-round fight, with the winner putting himself right in the mix for a bigger fight later this year in the division.

Jacobs, 31, is the clear favorite here, as the more experienced man, particularly in the middleweight division. But Sulecki, 28, is a potential troublemaker in this matchup, a talented fighter who has become a rising contender at 154 and 160 pounds in recent years.

In the co-feature, heavyweights Jarrell Miller (20-0-1, 18 KO) and Johann Duhaupas (37-4, 24 KO) do battle in another bout set for 12 rounds, and this one might be more interesting than some expected.

Miller, 29, who has put on weight over his career, came in at a career-high 304.4 pounds on the scales. The 37-year-old Duhaupas weighed in at 244.2, a little below where he’s been at in his last three fights.
