Dillian Whyte: Joe Joyce is ‘deluded’ like David Haye

Dillian Whyte wasn’t impressed with Joe Joyce’s latest win.

This past Saturday in London, Joe Joyce won the Commonwealth heavyweight title with a second round knockout of Lenroy Thomas, impressing many with his victory over the veteran.

But one person he didn’t impress is Dillian Whyte, who called Joyce “terrible,” and says the 4-0 (4 KO) fighter has no defense and no power.

From Sky Sports:

“Just like David Haye, Joyce is very deluded. That’s why they get on so well. He’s 32, he’s turned pro late. He’s making noise to get some big fights. Why did he stay amateur for so long? Because he wasn’t good enough. He waited for the good amateurs, like Anthony Joshua, to go through. He just wasn’t good enough.”

Whyte (23-1, 17 KO) sounds in a way like he’s angling to fight Joyce with this statement, but he’s a pretty outspoken guy in general, too, so he might be talking just to talk. And it’s certainly getting him headlines and keeping his name out there.
