Sadam Ali and Jaime Munguia are set for tomorrow night’s HBO main event, and Rey Vargas and Azat Hovhannisyan also made weight for the co-feature, which goes live tomorrow night at 10 pm ET from Verona, New York.
Ali (26-1, 14 KO) will be making the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight title, which was won from Miguel Cotto last December. Ali weighed in at 153 pounds, one below the limit. Munguia (28-0, 24 KO) came in at 152¾. The challenger is considered a top prospect in the sport, and is a very live dog in this fight.
The co-feature will see Vargas (31-0, 22 KO) defending his WBC super bantamweight title for the third time. He weighed in at 120 pounds, two below the 122-pound limit. Hovhannisyan (14-2, 11 KO) is getting his first world title opportunity. He’s won eight straight, and is coming off of a sixth-round knockout of Ronny Rios.
