It looks as though “Superfly” is here to stay. Dan Rafael reports that HBO is working on the third installment, which is “penciled in” for September 8th in southern California with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai-Juan Francisco Estrada II as the main event.

Sor Rungvisai (45-4-1, 40 KO) and Estrada (36-3, 25 KO) put on one of the year’s better fights this past February, with Sor Rungvisai ultimately coming out on top by majority decision. With Naoya Inoue now plying his trade at 118, Carlos Cuadras coming off an upset loss to McWilliams Arroyo, and Roman Gonzalez still rebuilding, the rematch was the obvious choice.

Sor Rungvisai might have some extra mental baggage this time, however, as his 14-year relationship with his girlfriend recently broke down just before they were set to marry. Worth keeping an eye on.

As far as the supporting cast, Jerwin Ancajas and Kal Yafai are on a collision course if they both pull out wins later this month. Sounds like a perfect co-feature if HBO can get them on board. Donnie Nietes vs. Aston Palicte would have been good, too, but that’s already booked for August in the Philippines.
