Jermall Charlo talks to media members about a potential fight with Gennady Golovkin and what he thinks about the fighter. Check out what he had to say...
Charlo on what he sees in Golovkin’s style, and if he believes Golovkin has to fight recklessly to make KOs happen:
“Everybody game plan different when you fighting a higher level fighter. It’s nothing you can do about it. I mean you gotta make adjustments in there...Golovkin seemed to be like getting stronger as the fight [progresses]. But I noticed that he starts off real slow. He starts off real vulnerable, like he gets hit early, in the beginning. I start off accurate in the beginning. I get more, like, ready to get the fight over with, you know what I mean? Like ready to just throw punches, you know, rather than keep the smart tactics going.
“Some fights I don’t see Golovkin being tactical. You know, against Canelo I saw him being tactical until he started realizing he was losing, like it felt like he was losing, [then] he started hustling, you know? I feel like that’s the only reason it was a draw.”
On how he views a potential fight with Golovkin:
“[The fans] believe the fight can happen, then I start thinking that the fight might happen one day. Like when I started hearing people say I should fight J-Rock, then all the sudden it was like — I fought J-Rock...
“I gotta fight Golovkin. I gotta fight Golovkin — for America. For everything that I stand for! With everybody on my back! I gotta fight Golovkin. That’s something I have to do. To consider myself being one of the best, I gotta get that fight!”
