At the conclusion of their opening press conference, announcing their lightweight title unification on July 28, Mikey Garcia and Robert Easter Jr. went head-to-head for their first face off, which can be viewed in the video above from our friends at Fight Hub TV.
Garcia, 30, decided to vacate his recently won junior welterweight title for this opportunity to unify titles back at 135lbs. In his last three outings Garcia has taken out Dejan Zlaticanin, Adrien Broner, and Sergey Lipinets to run his record to a perfect 38-0 (30 KOs).
Meanwhile Easter, 27, is most recently coming off a split decision win over Javier Fortuna in January. Before that he took unanimous decisions over Denis Shafikov and Luis Cruz, but Garcia will easily be his most formidable opponent on paper.
Easter is listed at 5’11” with a 76” reach whereas Garcia is 5’6” with a 68” reach but Garcia will likely be the betting favorite in this match-up, especially since Easter tends to fight in a style that doesn’t play towards his usually massive height and reach advantages.
But you tell me, fans, what are your early predictions for this fight?
