Germany’s Tyron Zeuge will defend his WBA “world” super middleweight title on July 14 in Offenburg, facing traveling fighter Rocky Fielding of England at Baden Arena.
Zeuge (22-0-1, 12 KO) won the belt in November 2016, beating Giovanni De Carolis in a rematch, after the two went to a draw in July of that year. He’s successfully defended twice against Isaac Ekpo and against Paul Smith, most recently beating Ekpo by TKO-2 on March 24.
Fielding (26-1, 14 KO) is a former British and Commonwealth champion. He was wiped out in 2:45 by Callum Smith back in November 2015, but has rebounded nicely, scoring five straight wins, beating John Ryder, David Brophy, and Christopher Rebrasse in that stretch.
Even though it’s for a secondary title — the WBA “super” champion at 168 is George Groves — this will be the first world title challenge for Fielding, and it’s a big opportunity for him, obviously. Zeuge, of course, will look to retain and keep himself in the mix for the bigger fights at the weight, if he wants them.
