Following surgery to remove a cyst in his right knee, Canelo Alvarez is back in training as he prepares to fight again this September. Canelo received a six month suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance, but he’ll be free to fight in time for Mexican Independance Day weekend, where it has been accounced that he intends to make his return.
Really the only question at this point is who his September opponent will be. His negotiations with Gennady Golovkin have seemed to be a bit hot and cold, and just yesterday Golden Boy president Eric Gomez extended a final offer to Golovkin which his has until this afternoon to accept.
Should Golovkin not come to terms, Canelo is expected to pursue a fight with Daniel Jacobs instead.
But in the meantime Canelo can be seen working on his defense and combination counterpunching with trainer Eddie Reynoso and appears to be in good condition, despite the knee wrap.
