Unified junior middleweight titleholder Jarrett Hurd has just undergone arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, which he reveled on social media this week.

Hurd is coming off one of the best fights this year against Erislandy Lara and said that he had been masking the pain with cortisone shots. But now that the fight is over with he finally went in to have to injury taken care of.

Hurd’s trainer had this to say on the nagging injury:

“Obviously, the injury became intolerable and (the surgery) had to be done,” trainer Ernesto Rodriguez said. “He expects to have physical therapy. As of now, no actual date (for his return is known) since (surgery) was just performed (on Monday).”

Hurd has recently been calling out the likes of Kell Brook and Jermell Charlo for his next outing, with most fans more keen to see him face Charlo in another title unification bout, but with the latest news on his surgery it could be a fight that gets pushed off until next year.
