According to promoter Yvon Michel, Jean Pascal’s return to action has been pushed back until July 20 where he’ll still be taking on Steve Bosse in Laval, Quebec in a cruiserweight bout.
The promoter acknowledged that ticket sales for the event haven’t been too hot and is hoping to spark more interest with a little more time and a new sponsor in Olivier Primeau, owner of Beachclub, who hopes to pitch the event to a younger demographic. Good luck.
“We are not here to do miracles, but to make sure boxing will be known by more people, to develop a younger crowd and a new clientele,” Primeau said.
The 35-year-old Pascal (32-5-1, 19 KOs) hasgone 3-3 in his last six fights but has lost against the upper echelon opponents. He most recently stopped Ahmed Elbiali in December and announced his retirement, but that obviously didn’t stick.
His opponent, 36-year-old Bosse (1-0, 1 KO), is a former hockey player turned mixed martial artist turned boxer. He made his professional boxing debut earlier this year after going 12-2 in MMA.
So, basically, this is all set up to be super competitive bout.
