Early this morning it was reported that there was a shooting at Bray Boxing Club in Ireland — a gym started by Pete Taylor, the father of women’s champion Katie Taylor.

Irish police confirm that a gunman entered the club at 6:55am this morning and opened fire as an early morning session was getting ready to begin. One man, 30, was fatally shot in the head while on a treadmill and two others, including Pete Taylor, received non life-threatening wounds. Taylor is said to have been shot in the arm by a bullet which then ricocheted into his chest. There were approximately 15-20 individuals in the boxing club at the time of the shooting.

Superintendent Pat Ward offered this statement on the incident:

“Unfortunately a 30-year-old man died at the scene and two others were injured. They were brought to hospital and are receiving treatment. We know that the gunman left the scene in a silver Volkswagen Caddy.”

At this time there is no known motive for the shooting
