Light heavyweights Sullivan Barrera (21-2, 14 KOs) and Seanie Monaghan (29-1, 17 KOs) have officially been scheduled to go head-to-head in a 10-round contest set for Aug. 18th, which will stream live on Facebook Watch, ESPN reports.
This fight will headline a Golden Boy Fight Night card as part of a five card deal the company has made with Facebook to stream live boxing content which will be free to watch — this being the first installment.
Barrera, 36, is most recently coming off a stoppage loss to Dmitry Bivol back in March and is looking to bounce back into the win column.
“As always, I’m willing to face the top guys in my division. This is another tough fighter,” Barrera said. “I look forward to Aug. 18, and I’ll give the fans a great show. They will see me start to climb my way back up to facing the very best light heavyweights in the world.”
Meanwhile Monaghan, 36, is one fight removed from getting stopped by Marcus Browne last summer. He’s since stepped down in competition to grab a win over Evert Bravo last November and will be stepping back up in this match.
“This fight is do or die for both of us,” Monaghan said. “I’ve been going back-and-forth with Barrera on Twitter for a couple of years now. This will finally be our chance to settle it in the ring -- no more talking.”
The pair will square off at the Sands Bethlehem Casino and Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in just a few weeks.
