Tom Loeffler’s next installment of a card featuring 115-pounders, Superfly 3, is starting to round itself out for a HBO telecast which will be held on September 8th in Inglewood, CA.
On top of Donnie Nietes (41-1-4, 23 KOs) fighting Aston Palicte (24-2, 20 KOs) for a vacant title, fellow super flyweights Juan Francisco Estrada (36-3, 25 KOs) and Kazuto Ioka (22-1, 13 KOs) have also been added to the televised tripleheader.
At this time Estrada, 28, is expected to fight in the main event against an opponent who is still to be determined. Estrada had been on a relative hot streak, winning 10 straight fights, but most recently dropped a majority decision to titleholder Srisaket Sor Rungvisai this past February in a really competitive bout.
Meanwhile Japan’s Ioka, 29, announced that he will coming out of retirement for this Superfly 3 card and hasn’t fought since April 2017. After that last fight Ioka would eventually vacate his flyweight title and walked away from the sport but will be returning to action here at a higher weight class. Ioka will also be fighting an opponent to be determined.
