Heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz had about as good a turnaround as possible following a heartbreaking loss to Deontay Wilder earlier this year. Ortiz was facing Razvan Cojanu as the co-main event on the Mikey Garcia vs. Robert Easter Jr. card and made quick work of his opponent.
After an opening round where Cojanu was unwilling to engage, Ortiz pressed the action a little more in the second and found a home for a right hook-straight left combination that hit Cojanu square on the chin and put him on the deck.

Conjanu would try to get back to his feet but would stumble all over the place, forcing the referee to step in and call off the fight for Cojanu’s safety. Cojanu wasn’t happy with the stoppage but it was certainly justified. With the win Ortiz (29-1, 25 KOs) finds his way back into title contention riding an emphatic victory, but it’s unclear when he might get that shot.
