Now that things look good to go for Manny Pacquiao’s July 14th fight against Lucas Matthysse, Fight Hub TV was able to capture some footage of Pacquiao’s training camp in The Philippines which can be viewed above.
In the video Pacquiao can been seen doing a little work on the mitts, double end bag, and the speed bag. Most notably, though, this fight will mark Pacquiao’s first without trainer Freddie Roach since in over a decade.
Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs) is most recently coming off a much disputed decision loss to Jeff Horn this time last year. Pacquiao is clearly not the fighter he once was, but he seemed to still be good enough to at least win that fight.
Now he’ll be taking on Matthysse (39-4, 36 KOs) who appears to be a faded fight himself, although he still packs a whallop in those hands. Prevailing wisdom says that if Pacquiao still has his legs under him this should be a fairly easy fight for him — stylistically, at least. That said, Pacquiao doesn’t have the mobility he once had, and if he gives Matthysse the opportunity to drop bombs on his split guard he just might be in for another rough outing in a couple of weeks.
