The much-discussed bout between former titleholders Devon Alexander and Andre Berto looks like it’s set for August 4, when the two welterweights will headline a PBC on FOX card from Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum, according to Dan Rafael at ESPN.

Alexander (27-4-1, 14 KO) may be the fresher of the two veterans. The 31-year-old southpaw from St. Louis last fought on February 17, going to a disputed draw with Victor Ortiz, a fight almost everyone felt Alexander clearly won. He missed all over 2016 and most of 2017 dealing with issues outside of the ring, following a pair of losses in 2014-15 to Amir Khan and Aron Martinez. He was sharp last November against Walter Castillo, and looked relevant against Ortiz in February.

Berto (31-5, 24 KO) is a little older at 34, and hasn’t fought since April 2017, when he was battered by Shawn Porter, losing a ninth round TKO. He’s 3-4 in his last seven fights, which date back to 2012.

The card will also reportedly feature the return of light heavyweight contender Marcus Browne (21-0, 16 KO), facing Lenin Castillo (18-1-1, 13 KO), plus Peter Quillin (33-1-1, 23 KO) against J’Leon Love (24-1-1, 13 KO) in a super middleweight matchup of former rising stars who have fallen by the wayside in recent years.
