Saturday, July 14
Sky Sports Main Event (UK), 5:00 pm ET, Tyron Zeuge vs Rocky Fielding. Zeuge is defending the WBA “world” super middleweight title against Fielding in Germany, where Zeuge will of course have home field advantage. It’s a big shot for Fielding, obviously, and he’ll look to take advantage of the opportunity, but he’s probably the underdog for various reasons, including that Zeuge may simply be a better fighter. But anything can happen.
ESPN, 7:00 pm ET, Regis Prograis vs Juan Jose Velasco, Teofimo Lopez vs William Silva. An early start time for Top Rank on ESPN, as they’re making room for the Pacquiao-Matthysse fight later in the evening on ESPN+. Prograis is arguably the best at 140 now that Terence Crawford is out of the division; at the very least, he’s in the discussion. Lopez is a blue chipper that Top Rank are very excited about, and should be. BLH will have live coverage.
ESPN+, 9:00 pm ET, Manny Pacquiao vs Lucas Matthysse, Jhack Tepora vs Edivaldo Ortega. Pacquiao and Matthysse meet for Matthysse’s WBA “world” welterweight title, in a matchup of faded veterans who still might have something left. Matthysse didn’t look great last time out, but still won a knockout. Pacquiao didn’t look great last time out, but most people still thought he should have gotten the W against Jeff Horn. It’ll be interesting to see where Manny’s at right now. No Freddie Roach, no proper Top Rank involvement other than sorting U.S. TV, and fighting in Kuala Lumpur. Tepora-Ortega is for an interim WBA featherweight belt. BLH will have live coverage.
