Srisaket Sor Rungvisai appears to have an opponent for his October 6th debut under the ONE FC banner: Mexico’s Iran Diaz, whose trainer broke the news to ESPN Deportes last night. “MagnifiKO” is ranked #13 at super flyweight by the WBC and will be making his second appearance outside of Mexico.
Diaz (14-2-3, 6 KO) came up short in his two biggest fights to date, suffering knockout losses to Juan Hernandez Navarrete and Nordine Oubaali, but his current four-fight unbeaten streak includes decisions over Luis Concepcion and “Tyson” Marquez. Though both of those guys are well past their sell-by dates, the wins are enough to spare Diaz the “tune-up” designation.
The Bangkok card, titled “ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES.” will feature MMA and Muay Thai matches before the main event. These shows tend to be well-paced and plenty entertaining, even the mismatches, so it’s worth tuning in before Sor Rungvisai goes to work.
