Kovalev vs Alvarez: Fighters make weight for HBO doubleheader

All four light heavyweights are set for tomorrow’s show.

Sergey Kovalev, Eleider Alvarez, Dmitry Bivol, and Isaac Chilemba are all good to go for tomorrow night’s HBO light heavyweight title doubleheader from Atlantic City, as the four fighters made weight this afternoon.

Kovalev (32-2-1, 28 KO) tipped the scales at 174 pounds for his WBO title defense against Alvarez (23-0, 11 KO), who came in at 174.4.

In the co-feature, Bivol (13-0, 11 KO) will defend the WBA “world” title against Chilemba (25-5-2, 10 KO). Bivol weighed in at 174.6, with Chilemba right at the division limit of 175.

Both fights are, of course, set for 12 rounds, with the clear design being for the winners to square off perhaps late this year or in early 2019, particularly if it’s the much-desired Kovalev-Bivol fight, which has been simmering for a while now.

For more on these fights, check out our preview. We’ll have live coverage tomorrow night, starting at 10 pm ET.
