Peter Quillin, in his first fight in 11 months and just his second fight since his 2015 loss to Daniel Jacobs, looked solid in the ring tonight on FOX, outpointing J’Leon Love over 10 rounds in their super middleweight bout.
Quillin (34-1-1, 23 KO) won on scores of 98-92, 98-92, and 99-91. BLH had it 99-91 for Quillin, who may not have looked exactly prime at age 35, but did look like someone who, if he stays active, could be an interesting entrant into the race at 168 pounds.
Of course, that will mean taking on better competition than Love (24-2-1, 13 KO), a former prospect who has failed to live up to his hype and turned in a listless sort of performance in this one, simply not throwing enough punches and allowing Quillin to completely dictate everything about the fight.
Love was never in any serious trouble — Quillin had one big flurry that Love handled pretty well — but he also never really felt like he was in the fight, either.
