Golden Boy prospect Ryan Garcia (15-0, 13 KOs) has just been scheduled to take on Carlos Morales on September 1 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. The fight will serve as the main event for a Golden Boy Fight Night card which will stream live on Facebook Watch as part of the company’s deal with the social media network.

“I feel amazed, honored and excited,” Garcia said about the upcoming fight. “I’ve changed up my team and we’ve been working on my craft. I’m more focused now than ever before, and I’ve been working on the body shots. I won’t reveal too much now, so everyone will have to tune in. I’m going to show fans why we are the hottest thing in boxing.”

Garcia — who has been making noise recently by feuding with Gervonta Davis — is no longer being trained by his father after criticism over his progression, and is now being led by Danny Luna who used to work with him in the amateurs. This decision was deemed necessary by Garcia’s manager who wants to see Garcia improve on going to the body and keeping his chin down.

In the co-feature junior middleweight Marvin Cabrera (8-0, 6 KOs) will take on Neeco Macias (16-0, 9 KOs) in a scheduled 8-rounder. There will also be showings of several other young prospects who have yet to have their opponents determined at this time.
