Yes, President of the United States!

As is being reported by the LA Times, boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya is really serious about considering a presidential run in the next election in 2020...

“If Arnold [Schwarzenegger] can be governor, if Trump can be president, then why can’t a Mexican American who won an Olympic gold medal, who’s over 35 and a U.S. citizen run for president?”

The Hall of Famer says he’s been thinking about this for many years and that he would run for office as a democrat if he decides to go through with the move.

Now my initial inclination is to laugh my ass off and wonder — and let me put this delicately — what state of mind De La Hoya is currently in, but, you know, he does make a point. In America all things are possible, it seems, but that doesn’t mean all that are possible are beneficial. But hey, an Oscar campaign should be pretty fun for various reasons anyway.

A lot of De La Hoya’s dirt, which mostly includes substance abuse, hookers, and cross dressing, have already been in the public spotlight for years now, and I just blush at the thought of all the potential stories that could surface about him if he followed through with this presidential bid.

But De La Hoya apparently believes he can make a difference in this country, although he describes his current interest level as ‘very preliminary.’
