John Ryder-Andrey Sirotkin eliminator headlines October 27 Matchroom card

Some local titles will be on the line earlier in the day

Matchroom Boxing

October 27th has gotten even busier thanks to Matchroom Boxing, who today announced a fairly loaded card at London’s Copper Box Arena headlined by a WBA super middleweight eliminator between John Ryder and Andrey Sirotkin.

The WBA are pricks for making me have to specify this, but Ryder (26-4, 14 KO) and Sirotkin (15-0, 4 KO) are fighting to become the mandatory challenger for the “Super” title that’ll be contested by Callum Smith and George Groves later this month, not the “regular” title held by Rocky Fielding. They’re ranked #3 and #5, respectively, by the sanctioning body.

Other highlights include well-regarded prospect Ted Cheeseman (14-0, 9 KO) fighting Asinia Byfield (14-1, 6 KO) for the vacant British super welterweight title, Ryan Doyle (17-2-1, 9 KO) defending the Commonwealth title he defied 10-to-1 odds to win against challenger Jordan Gill (21-0, 5 KO), and Jake Ball (11-1, 8 KO) defending his WBA trinket against Craig Richards (12-1, 6 KO).

That date already featured Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko and a WBSS double bill from New Orleans; luckily, time zones are a convenient thing for once, so this should be done by the time HBO and DAZN start broadcasting.
