Saunders faces misconduct charge ahead of Andrade clash

Billy Joe Saunders has a reputation for crude behavior, and this latest incident should do nothing but bolster that image of him.

WBN reports that Saunders is in hot water with the British Boxing Board of Control after a video of him was posted online with Saunders offering crack to a drug addicted woman in exchange for sexual favors for his friend. After stringing her along for a minute, Saunders then coerced the woman into striking a random passerby whom Saunders accused of being a pedophile.

The video stoked some outrage, and now Saunders has been called by the BBBoC to answer to a misconduct charge.

“The British Boxing Board of Control are aware of a video featuring WBO Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders. The Board have called Mr. Saunders to appear before the Stewards of Board on a misconduct charge next week,” said a statement receieved by World Boxing News on Tuesday.

In addition, The Daily Mail also reports that local police are now launching an investigation, as a number of crimes were on full display in the video.

“A full investigation will be carried out into the number of offences that have been captured on film, including the offer to supply Class A drugs, aiding and abetting an assault, assault and public order offences.”

Saunders is currently in preparations to defend his WBO middleweight title against Demetrius Andrade on Oct. 20 — or at least he should be — and this should serve as nothing but an unnecessary distraction which Saunders has brought upon himself.
