As heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin gets ready to challenge Anthony Joshua this weekend with his three major world titles on the line, Povetkin appears for his public workout which is captured here by our friends at Fight Hub TV. Povetkin (34-1, 24 KOs) enters this bout coming off a knockout win over David Price in March.
Povetkin, who had two fights scuttled in recent years due to testing positive for banned substances, hasn’t had any issues thus far, which means that we should be good to go for Saturday, where DAZN will kickoff their new streaming app with Joshua-Povetkin serving as their main event.
At age 39 there are reasonable questions about whether or not Povetkin can hang with young champions in their prime, and here he’ll get to make his case. Povetkin’s sole loss came to Wladimir Klitschko in 2013, and while that’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of, Joshua will be the best fighter he’s faced in a long time.
