Eddie Hearn optimistic about Joshua-Wilder

The promoter thinks the fight will get made for 2019.

Eddie Hearn chatted with SB Nation at the Friday weigh in for the Anthony Joshua-Alexander Povetkin card in London, and weighed in on why Anthony Joshua is the No. 1 fighter on the planet, and also about the prospects for an AJ vs Deontay Wilder bout.

Hearn said that Povetkin is no pushover, and said he will get 80,000 plus in Wembley to watch live. (We didn’t discuss what weather we will contend with in London.)

He then went into hype mode on his DAZN platform, and mentioned upcoming cards, including a November 17 slate, which “we’ll be announcing next week.”

What about Wilder vs AJ? “Shelly Finkel has come back and my dad is going to meet him early October,” he said. “Because if we beat Povetkin on Saturday night, we’ve probably got two or three weeks to make that fight.”

And if he were a betting man, does he think we see AJ vs Wilder next? “I do actually, yeah,” he said.
