The fight was up in the air for a while after Groves (28-3, 20 KO) injured his shoulder in the last round of his semifinal win over Chris Eubank Jr., but when Oleksandr Usyk vs. Murat Gassiev got delayed as well, they got the breathing room necessary to rebook this.
Groves had previously starched Jamie Cox in the quarterfinals. Smith (24-0, 17 KO), meanwhile, took decisions over Erik Skoglund and kickboxing great Nieky Holzken on his way to the finals.
It’s nice to finally get reasonable access to the tournament without having to spend half the time refreshing a stuttering stream. We’ll also have our usual coverage if you can’t catch it live.
