Taylor-Martin/Burnett-Donaire set for November 3rd in Glasgow

New, comments

Taylor is the #2 seed at 140, Burnett the top seed at 118

Josh Taylor will get home field advantage for his World Boxing Super Series quarterfinal, taking on unbeaten Ryan “Blue Chip” Martin in Glasgow on November 3rd alongside Ryan Burnett vs. Nonito Donaire.

Taylor (13-0, 11 KO) is coming off of the toughest fight of his career, a back-and-forth battle with former champion Viktor Postol at the same SSE Hydro. The victory, added to a résumé that already featured stoppages of Ohara Davies and Miguel Vazquez, has most observers pegging him to reach the finals.

Martin (22-0, 12 KO) has risen through the ranks with only a handful of missteps, but has nowhere near the same level of experience against top-level opposition. While the potential is certainly there, this is an uphill battle.

Burnett (19-0, 9 KO), the WBA “Super” Bantamweight Champion, caught some flak for avoiding Zolani Tete, but does boast solid wins over Lee Haskins and Zhanat Zhakiyanov. He’s a sizable favorite over Donaire (38-5, 24 KO), who is on the decline and nearly seven years removed from his last appearance at 118 pounds.
