Garcia vs Porter: Live streaming results and round by round coverage

Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter battle in tonight’s Showtime main event.

Amanda Westcott/SHOWTIME

Tonight at 9 pm ET on Showtime, boxing returns to the Barclays Center for a tripleheader, with Danny Garcia taking on Shawn Porter in the main event for the vacant WBC welterweight title.

Garcia (34-1, 20 KO) is looking to regain the title he lost to Keith Thurman in 2017. Last time out in February, he stopped Brandon Rios in the ninth round. Porter (28-2-1, 17 KO) is also a former titleholder, and won the WBC silver title in his last fight, last November against Adrian Granados, setting himself up for this opportunity.

It’s a 50-50 sort of fight on paper between two of the best in the 147-pound division, a can’t-miss sort of fight.

In the co-feature, Yordenis Ugas (22-3, 11 KO) and Cesar Miguel Barrionuevo (34-3-2, 24 KO) meet in a WBC eliminator, which may mean that the winner will be next for the Garcia-Porter victor. Ugas has been on a tear of late, and Barrionuevo hasn’t lost since 2013.

In the heavyweight opener, popular Polish prospect Adam Kownacki (17-0, 14 KO) will take on former IBF titleholder Charles Martin (25-1-1, 23 KO) in a 10-round bout.

Wil Esco will be on the round-by-round call. Join us!

More punches land downstairs for Ugas but Barrionuevo hasn’t given up on himself at all in this fight — he’s just outclassed. Ugas hurts Barrionuevo with a body shot but isn’t able to follow up to end this fight with a KO. I’ve got it a shutout for Ugas, 120-108.

ADAM KOWNACKI vs CHARLES MARTIN

Better round for Martin but Kownacki is still imposing himself on Martin. Kownacki 10-9, 20-18.

Round 3: Kownacki lands two right hands to the body. Martin can’t keep Kownacki from coming forward and landing shots. Martin is finding spots to counter every now and then but he’s not good enough defensively to fight in this full-on retreat and counter style. Kownacki lands a right hand and Martin lands a couple of slapping lefts that cuff Kownacki’s ear. Kownacki continues to walk Martin down and Martin looks like he’s under duress. But now Martin turns the table and gets Kownacki on the ropes and Martin leans on him and tries to find space to land some shots, but nothing much effective. Martin continues to lean on Kownacki to end the round but I just don’t think it’s enough. The feel of the fight is that Kownacki is wearing Martin. Kownacki 10-9.

Round 4: Hard right uppercut from Kownacki visibly hurts Martin momentarily. Kownacki coming forward again with the straight right hand to the body. Kownacki targets the body and head and is landing on both. Martin takes a lot of hard shots from Kownacki and holds on! Martin is getting tagged and I don’t think he can last the distance taking clean punches at this rate. Uppercut lands for Kownacki, then a straight right soon after. Martin deliberately holding Kownacki to break up the non-stop assault. Kownacki 10-9, 40-36.

Martin continues to hold when he gets overwhelmed without any warning from the referee. The fighters get right back in the phone booth after a break and both look to land body shots. Hard left hook to the body lands for Kownacki and backs Martin up. It’s a good thing Martin came into this fight in great shape because he’s going to need every bit of conditioning he has. Kownacki lands a left hook to the body which followed a missed right. Martin responds and lands a few clean body shots. Martin is actually getting in some good shots and he’s shown some real durability in this fight. The fact Martin is still standing upright is rather impressive, that he’s still able to fight back is even more so. Hard left hand followed by two to the body land for Martin. I think this gets Martin on the board. Martin 10-9.

Round 8: Kownacki lands a clean right that knocks Martin back. Kownacki gets in a body shot. Now Martin sneaks a left hand between Kownacki’s gloves. Kownacki starts throwing a flurry and gets off a number of unanswered shots. Both fighters trade shots and both land some. Fatigue looks like it has set in on both fighters with the punching starting to get a little sloppy. Martin gets Kownacki on the ropes and both fighters trade shots but Martin gets in a big one at the bell and that gets him the round for me. Martin 10-9, 74-78.

Round 9: Kownacki looks for a big right hand but Martin is able to evade it. Martin lands two left hands but takes a big one in return that backs Martin to the ropes! Kownacki follows it up with more punches and Martin holds on to stop Kownacki’s attack. Kownacki find a second wind in this round and has really landed a lot of shots on Martin. Both fighters trade haymakers and both fighter are able to eat the clean shots! This is a fun fight, even if Kownacki is winning wide on my card. Kownacki 10-9.

Round 10: Kownacki lands a straight right straightaway, then jumps on him with another one that knocks Martin across the ring! Kownacki lands two hooks to Martin’s body and then a right hand upstairs. Martin takes a deep breath and tries to regain his composure.
