Hello, my friends, we meet again. It’s been a while, where should we begin? Feels like forever!
Excellent Creed lyrics aside, it has been a while, but it’s time to get back into live boxing coverage, as tonight at 10 pm ET on Showtime, ShoBox: The New Generation kicks off its 2019 campaign with a tripleheader from Shreveport, Louisiana, featuring lightweight prospect Devin Haney in what may be his final ShoBox bout.
Haney (20-0, 13 KO) headlines in a 10-round bout against fellow unbeaten prospect Xolisani Ndongeni (25-0, 13 KO) of South Africa, in a fight that is meant to graduate Haney from the prospect series, but could wind up being more than he bargained for — if Ndongeni can back up his record.
In the co-feature, featherweights Ruben Villa (14-0, 5 KO) and Ruben Cervera (10-0, 9 KO) meet in an eight-round fight, and in the opener, Cuban heavyweight Frank Sanchez Faure (10-0, 8 KO) takes on Willie Jake Jr (8-1-1, 2 KO).
