Leo Santa Cruz vs. Miguel Flores: Opening Press Conference

Santa Cruz and Flores formally announce their Feb. 16 fight.

As we kick off the new year we’ve had some official fight announcements for the beginning of 2019. One of them is a WBA featherweight title bout between Leo Santa Cruz (35-1-1, 19 KOs) and Miguel Flores (23-2, 11 KOs), set for Feb. 16 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. You can catch the video of the press conference above, thanks to our friends at Fight Hub TV.

Santa Cruz, 30, enters this fight coming off two successful title defenses of his WBA strap, most recently beating Abner Mares last summer by unanimous decision. Santa Cruz has appeared to have bounced back rather well from his first and only loss to Carl Frampton in 2016, and will look to keep his momentum going.

His opponent, Flores, 26, took two straight stoppage losses in 2017, but then scored a knockout win in a soft touch against Raul Chirino last April. That was nearly one year ago, though, and he’ll now be stepping up against by far the best opponent he’s ever faced before.

This fight is designed to be a showcase for Santa Cruz, but this is boxing and if Flores really comes to win then we could have a fun fight for as long as it lasts.
