Artur Beterbiev vs Oleksandr Gvozdyk

Round 1: Two punches come from Gvozdyk to start the fight. Jab partially lands for Beterbiev. Beterbiev lands a jab upstairs. Now both fighters trade jabs. Gvozdyk throws three punches, including one to the body. Gvozdyk slips an attack from Beterbiev. Two punches come as counter shots from Gvozdyk, who then bounces to the side before throwing a jab to the body. Gvozdyk misses on a left hook but manages to get away from Beterbiev’s response. Another combination comes from Gvozdyk that keeps Beterbiev’s hands at home. Jab lands for Gvozdyk upstairs. Right hand lands to the body for Beterbiev. Gvozdyk lands a one-two, with the right hand landing to the body. Beterbiev throws Gvozdyk down on what looked like a push and not a punch! The referee calls it a knockdown and Teddy Atlas is pissed! Beterbiev 10-8, technically I guess. (Commissioner overturned the knockdown. 10-9, Gvozdyk).

Round 2: Beterbiev leads in with a left hand but Gvozdyk ducks the shot pretty well. Both fighters trade jabs at center ring. Gvozdyk sticks a jab upstairs and then goes down to the body with a good right hand. Beterbiev gets in a left hand with a glancing blow. Right hand goes down to the body for Beterbiev this time but Gvozdyk comes back with his own shots to the body. Right hand lands down to the body for Gvozdyk. Jab lands upstairs for Gvozdyk, Beterbiev gets in a counter. Chopping right hand partially lands with a chopping right hand. Now both fighters trade clean shots and Gvozdyk might’ve felt that one. I still think Gvozdyk takes the round. Gvozdyk 10-9, 20-18.

Round 3: Jab lands pretty well for Beterbiev but Gvozdyk responds with a short combination. Jab lands to the body for Beterbiev. Beterbiev misses on a right hand upstairs as Gvozdyk ducks down. Jab lands for Gvozdyk, followed by two more clean shots! Clean right hand lands upstairs for Gvozdyk again! Right hand goes to the body for Gvozdyk as Beterbiev looks to find his distance. Both fighters fall into a clinch and the referee calls a break. Beterbiev misses on a lead jab but fights a right hand to the body moments later. Gvozdyk feints circles Beterbiev. I see Gvozdyk outboxing Beterbiev but it’s pretty damn close. Gvozdyk 10-9.

Round 4: Gvozdyk leads with a few punches and then gets in a right hand counter upstairs. Beterbiev presses behind a jab that falls shrot. Now Gvozdyk comes forward with a short combination that makes Beterbiev keeps his hands at home for defense. Beterbiev misses on a right hand. Gvozdyk throws several jabs in a row that don’t really land but keep the distance he wants. Another clean shot lands for Gvozdyk upstairs and Beterbiev takes a step back to re-evaluate his plan of attack. Jab lands for Beterbiev upstairs but Gvozdyk fires back with four punches. Beterbiev lands a right hand upstairs. Right hand lands down to the body for Gvozdyk. These are competitive rounds but I see Gvozdyk edging them with his activity and combinations. Gvozdyk 10-9, 40-36.

Round 5: Gvozdyk misses on a right hand to the body. Right hand to the body scores for Gvozdyk, Beterbiev gets in a right hand upstairs. Gvozdyk throws a combination and Beterbiev tries to time a shot in between. Clubbing right hand over the top partially lands for Beterbiev. Two jabs froms Beterbiev push Gvozdyk to the ropes. Beterbiev slips a number of shots from Gvozdyk at center ring and then lands a hard right hand to the body that hurts Gvozdyk. Gvozdyk throws a combination but Beterbiev tries to rough him up on the inside. Good round for Beterbiev. Beterbiev 10-9.

Round 6: Jab partially lands upstairs for Beterbiev. Gvozdyk goes down to the body but can’t land it clean. Counte right hand lands for Gvozdyk upstairs now. Hard right hand to the body lands for Gvodyk, Beterbiev gets one back and it does more damage, backing Gvozdyk off. Right hook goes down to the body for Gvozdyk. Beterbiev tries a jab to the body. Now Beterbiev gets in a jab upstairs. Gvozdyk might still be feeling those body shots from Beterbiev. Both fighters trade clean shots at center ring. Now straight right hand lands for Beterbiev upstairs. Gvozdyk lands two clean shots but another clubbing blow puts Gvozdyk down but it’s ruled a push. Beterbiev 10-9, 56-58.

Round 7: The momentum is starting to go with Beterbiev, who’s power is starting to wear on Gvozdyk’s body. Jab lands upstairs for Gvozdyk as he tries to show he’s still here to fight. Right hand lands to the body for Gvozdyk. Jabs land for both fighters. Gvozdyk picks off Beterbiev with a jab. Double left hand comes to the head and body for Beterbiev. Double left hook comes from Beterbiev again, followed by a right hand downstairs. Beterbiev 10-9.

Round 8: Beterbiev leads with a left hand that Gvozdyk partially blocks. Jab comes from Gvozdyk but Beterbiev goes back down to the body that makes another impression on Gvozdyk. Right hand lands over the top for Beterbiev. Right hand lands over the top for Gvozdyk this time. Referee warns Beterbiev for hitting on the break. Jab comes from Gvozdyk and Beterbiev tries to goes back to the body with a right hand. Two shots come from Gvozdyk uptairs. Both fighters trade clean right hands at the same time! I think Gvozdyk edges this one. Gvozdyk 10-9, 77-75.

Round 9: Right hand lands to the body for Gvozdyk, Beterbiev comes back with his own right hand to the body. Left jab lands to the body for Beterbiev. Beterbiev pushes forward with two big punches and lands a right to the body shortly after. Gvozdyk throws three punches as Beterbiev tries to put his gloves in tight. Rigth hook lands for Beterbiev. Right hand from Beterbiev lands behind the ear. Beterbiev lands a short right hand on the inside and Gvozdyk is looking like he’s starting to wilt. Beterbiev throws a combination and Gvozdyk grabs hold on the inside. Right uppercut lands for Beterbiev. Beterbiev goes down to the body as he senses Gvozdyk is in trouble! Big right hand from Beterbiev misses. Beterbiev 10-9.

Round 10: Gvozdyk lands a counter right hand to start the round, then another as Beterbiev presses forward. Beterbiev lands a right hand over the top and Gvozdyk holds on. Now Gvozdyk lands a right hand to the body. Punches from Beterbiev make Gvozdyk crumble but it’s ruled a push down. Left hook lands upstairs for Beterbiev and Gvozdyk looks like he’s extremely fatigued. Right hands for Beterbiev and this time Gvozdyk takes a knee. Beterbiev comes out on the attack and throws a flurry of punches. Another clubbing right hand puts Gvozdyk down again! Referee says one more chance for Gvozdyk. Big shots come from Beterbiev and Gvozdyk crumbles again. It’s over. Beterbiev TKO-10.

Luis Collazo vs Kudratillo Abdukakhorov

Round 1: Collazo blocks a couple of jabs fro mAbdukakhorov, then takes a left hand pretty flush. Abdukakhorov steps in with a lead right and makes some contact. Collazo blocks a body shot but Abdukakhorov follows it up with a combination that makes partial contact. Left hand lands over the top for Abdukakhorov. Hard combination comes from Abdukakhorov to the body and head as Collazo covers up. Check right hook partially lands for Collazo. Collazo slips a couple of punches but can’t get any off. Both fighters get their legs tangled and Collazo falls into the ropes. Abdukakhorov 10-9.

Round 2: Straight right hand lands to the body for Abdukakhorov to start the round. Two more hard shots come from Abdukakhorov to the body and head. Abdukakhorov tries a pretty lengthy combination as Collazo tries to bob and weave. Two more shots come from Abdukakhorov upstairs as Collazo steps in. Both fighters exchange along the ropes. Collazo gets in a body shot as Abdukakhorov has his back along the ropes. Collazo gets a counter left hand but eats a shot while doing it. Left hook lands for Collazo, whot then steps forward and lands a body shot. Two shots land for Abdukakhorov at the bell, which I think steals the round back for him. Abdukakhorov 10-9, 20-18.

Round 3: Two body shots land for Abdukakhorov who then follows it up with another combination. Collazo has a small cut over his left eye from the last round. Counter shot from Collazo knocks Abdukakhorov back to the ropes. Abdukakhorov smiles and throws two body shots back at Collazo. Collazo continues to apply a lot of pressure and lands a right hook upstairs that seems to stun Abdukakhorov momentarily. Another clean left hook lands for Collazo that gets Abdukakhorov’s attention. Abdukakhorov is on the ropes a lot in this round as Collazo isn’t respecting his power and walking straight in. Right hook lands to the body for Collazo. Abdukakhorov lands a left hand but it doesn’t keep Collazo from coming. Short combination comes from Collazo that backs Abdukakhorov up to the ropes once again. I like Collazo in this round. Collazo 10-9.

Round 4: Chopping left hand lands for Abdukakhorov to start the round. Collazo gets in a straight left but Abdukakhorov responds with a short combination of punches. Double jab from Collazo falls short. Two punches from Abdukakhorov miss the mark. Collazo throws three jabs and then a left hand, forcing Abdukakhorov to give ground. Double jab lands for Collazo. Straight left hand lead misses for Collazo, who then ducks a Abdukakhorov counter. Not much clean punching in this round but I think Collazo is controlling the action. Collazo 10-0, 38-38.

Round 5: A couple of punches from Abdukakhorov graze Collazo as he ducks low. Three punches come from Abdukakhorov and make solid contact. Straight left hand lead lands for Collazo. Straight right hand lands for Abdukakhorov this time. Abdukakhorov lands a clean shot as Collazo’s hands are starting to fall and he looks to just move his head. Right hand lands to the body for Abdukakhorov. Counter right lands for Abdukakhorov again. Counter right hand falls just short for Collazo. Abdukakhorov 10-9.

Round 6: Two shots come from Abdukakhorov to start the round, Collazo tries to cover up. Counter right hand lands for Collazo but Abdukakhorov gets in a shot of his own. Both fighters trade body shots. Counter left hook lands for Abdukakhorov along the ropes. Abdukakhorov rattles off a couple of punches and then skips along the ropes as Collazo tries to stalk him. Abdukakhorov is beating Collazo to the punch. Collazo reportedly has a left bicep injury in the fight. Abdukakhorov 10-9, 56-58.

Round 7: Collazo doesn’t seem to be able to throw his left hand any more and Abdukakhorov is just working both hands and moving laterally when he’s done. Collazo lands a right hook to the body and then tries one upstairs. More right hooks come from Collazo who is really trying to fight though his injury. Double jab lands clean for Collazo upstairs. Right hook to the body partially lands for Collazo, who then throws a rare left hand that lands upstairs. Uppercut lands clean for Abdukakhorov but Collazo takes it and walks forward looking for another right hand. I think Collazo managed to edge that round. Collazo 10-9.

Round 8: Collazo still pressing forward andand gets in a right hook upstairs, then one down to the body. Abdukakhorov goes down to the body himself with a hook. Double jab from Collazo misses this time. Uppercut lands for Abdukakhorov. Abdukakhorov throws a few more punches that keeps Collazo on the defensive. Right hand from Abdukakhorov partially lands upstairs. Two body shots land for Collazo on the inside. Left hook from Collazo gets in upstairs. Close round. I think I’m still leaning Collazo. Collazo 10-9, 76-76.

Round 9: Counter right hand from Collazo lands clean upstairs. Jab lands upstairs for Collazo, Abdukakhorov gets in a shot back. Right hand from Collazo gets off first and puts Abdukakhorov on the defensive. Clean left hook lands upstairs for Abdukakhorov. Both fighters trade shots and Abdukakhorov lands a clean jab upstairs. Right hand lead lands for Abdukakhorov, who then forces a clinch. Jab lands upstairs for Abdukakhorov, Collazo tries to respond but his punches get smothered. Abdukakhorov 10-9.

Round 10: Last round. Right hand targets the body for Abdukakhorov. Right hand lead lands for Abdukakhorov. Two body shots land for Abdukakhorov, followed by an uppercut upstairs. Right hook lands upstairs for Collazo. Another straight right hand lands upstairs for Collazo. Abdukakhorov clashes heads with Collazo and Abdukakhorov just pushes Collazo to the canvas. Collazo is cut badly over his right eye and Collazo might be concussed from the head collision. He can’t see and his balance is off pretty badly. They’re going to stop this round here to score the partial round. Abdukakhorov 10-9, so I’ve got it Abdukakhorov, 96-64.


Artur Beterbiev and Oleksandr Gvozdyk are set for action tonight on ESPN in a light heavyweight unification fight from Philadelphia.

Prelim coverage will start at 6:30 pm ET on ESPN+, with the main card going live on ESPN at 10 pm ET. Wil Esco will be here with live round by round coverage for the main card.

Beterbiev will defend the IBF 175-pound title, with Gvozdyk putting his WBC belt on the line in the main event. Both fighters are undefeated, had good amateur careers, and have become top-tier professionals.

In the co-feature, welterweight veteran Luis Collazo will take on rising potential contender Kudratillo Abdukakhorov in a 10-round bout.
