Brandon Figueroa-Julio Ceja joins November 23rd Wilder-Ortiz II undercard

The four-fight PBC on FOX pay-per-view headlined by Deontay Wilder-Luis Ortiz II is now complete, as officials confirmed both the previously announced Luis Nery-Emmanuel Rodriguez clash and Brandon Figueroa’s second super bantamweight title defense against former champion Julio Ceja. The bouts join the main event and Leo Santa Cruz-Miguel Flores on the broadcast.

Figueroa (20-0, 15 KO) is only a “champion” by virtue of the WBA being cretins, as the sanctioning body already had a champion in Daniel Roman when they gave Figueroa the interim belt for smashing Yonfrez Parejo, but he’s an extremely skilled and entertaining young fighter who looks to have a higher ceiling than brother Omar. He demolished Javier Chacon last August in what seemed a prelude for a fight with fellow unbeaten Stephen Fulton, but Fulton is currently targeting a January 18th return.

Instead, he faces what looks like a surefire firefight against the heavy-handed Ceja (32-4, 28 KO). “Pollito” is technically coming off of two consecutive losses, but those were a cut stoppage against Franklin Manzanilla and and arguably early stoppage after a war with Guillermo Rigondeaux. I highly doubt this one goes the distance.

Honestly, I say three solid high-octane matchups make up for the horrendous stinker in the co-main.
