Fight Camp: Deontay Wilder vs Luis Ortiz II

FOX releases it’s promotional video on the heavyweight rematch between Wilder and Ortiz.

With WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs) set to face challenger Luis Ortiz (31-1, 26 KOs) on November 23, in a rematch of their 2018 showdown, PBC on FOX unveils it’s official promotional video leading into the fight which can be seen in the video above.

The “40-year-old” Ortiz will be looking for redemption in this outing as he came as close as anyone has to beating Wilder in the professional ranks. Ortiz managed to badly stun Wilder in their first meeting, but wasn’t able to capitalize before he was ultimately put down and stopped. Since that time Ortiz has bounced back with three consecutive wins, two by knockout, albeit against lesser opposition.

Meanwhile Wilder, 34, went from his first bout with Ortiz into a big fight with Tyson Fury last December. Basically the whole world had Fury winning that fight on points at the end of 12 full rounds, but Wilder somehow managed to walk away with a split decision draw. Wilder was then supposed to fight Fury in a rematch, but Fury ended up signed a deal with Top Rank/ESPN which put those plans on hold for a while. Wilder would instead take on mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale this past May, easily dispatching him in the first round.

At this point Ortiz is only getting older, slower, with his reflexes fading, so it’s no wonder that Wilder is currently sitting as a heavy favorite to win their upcoming rematch.
