Gennadiy Golovkin narrowly avoided defeat tonight, as Sergiy Derevyanchenko gave an aging (and reportedly a bit under the weather) GGG all he could handle over 12 rounds, coming off the canvas in the first to go the distance.
In the end, GGG won on scores of 114-113, 115-112, and 115-112, but there are plenty who disagree with the scores.
One positive to keep in mind, though, is we got a hell of a battle between two terrific fighters who gave it their all for 36 minutes. Here’s a look at the highlights from DAZN:

If Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KO) can’t land a third fight with Canelo Alvarez, then a rematch with Derevyanchenko (13-2, 10 KO) might be the biggest fight out there for him, even more so than a potential unification with WBO titleholder Demetrius Andrade, a fellow DAZN fighter.
But we’ll see. Tonight, we got a hell of a fight. If you want to see the whole replay, sign up for DAZN!
