Tonight’s fight between Gennadiy Golovkin and Sergiy Derevyanchenko wasn’t an easy one to score, but most of us don’t have scorecards that matter. The three judges at ringside do however, and they made the call that Golovkin eked out a decision win over Derevyanchenko at Madison Square Garden.
Here’s a look at their cards, courtesy our own Michael Woods:

All three judges opened with a 10-8 for Golovkin thanks to a first round knockdown, and after three rounds, they all had Golovkin up 29-27, with Frank Lombardi and Eric Marlinski scoring the third round for Derevyanchenko, and Kevin Morgan giving the underdog the second.
After six rounds, Lombardi had Derevyanchenko up 57-56, giving him rounds three through six. Marlinski and Morgan each had it 57-56 for Golovkin.
Through 10 rounds, the fight was still in the balance, but at this point Lombardi had Golovkin up 96-93, giving him the seventh through 10th rounds, and Marlinski and Morgan each had it 95-94 for GGG.
The 11th round went to Derevyanchenko for Lombardi and Morgan, and to Golovkin for Marlinski. The 12th round went unanimously to Golovkin, sewing up the final cards of 114-113 from Morgan and 115-112 from Lombardi and Marlinski.
