With featherweights Kid Galahad (26-1, 15 KOs) and Claudio Marrero (24-3, 17 KOs) unable to reach a deal on a purse split after the IBF ordered the two to start negotiating on August 19, the IBF have now scheduled the world title eliminator match for a purse bid. The bid has been set for October 17th at the IBF offices in Springfield, New Jersey.
Should this fight move forward and actually happen, the winner would find themselves in line as mandatory challenger to face the October 12th winner between Josh Warrington and Sofiane Takoucht.
Galahad, 29, got his first shot at the IBF world title over the summer when he lost a split decision to Warrington, and will look to earn another shot at getting that strap around his waist.
Meanwhile Marrero, 30, most recently took a unanimous decision win over Eduardo Ramirez in June, one fight removed from dropping a decision to Tugstsogt Nyambayar at the top of the year.
