Emanuel Navarrete vs Francisco Horta in the works for Dec. 7

Navarrete would be making his fourth title defense this year.

WBO super bantamweight titleholder Emanuel Navarrete (29-1, 25 KOs) looks like he’ll be right back in action before the year is out as ESPN reports that Top Rank is working to finalize a December 7th card in Puebla, Mexico. The plan is to have Navarette headline against Francisco Horta (20-3-1, 10 KOs) with junior bantamweight titleholder Jerwin Ancajas taking on an opponent to be determined.

If this goes off as planned Navarrete will be perhaps the most active titleholder in the game, making what would be his third title defense since August. Since Navarette won his title by thrashing Isaac Dogboe late last year, he’s gone on to repeat that feat in an immediate rematch followed by two wins over Francisco De Vaca and Juan Miguel Elorde, respectively.

Navarette has really come out of the blue win this wins over Dogboe to start making a real name for himself, and the way Top Rank has been keeping him active is probably a good thing. And with any luck we’ll hopefully start seeing him in unification matches in the coming year.
