Ellerbe: I’m very confident Naoya Inoue can’t beat Luis Nery

Mayweather Promotions CEO confidently backs Luis Nery to beat Naoya Inoue if they ever fight.

With Deontay Wilder ready to defend his world title against Luis Ortiz this Saturday night, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe comments on one of the fighters who will appear on that card, Luis Nery, whom he’s sure will give Naoya Inoue that work should they ever square off.

“‘Monster’, he’s an excellent young fighter, tremendous puncher, he’s beat some very good fighters. But one fighter that I’m very confident he can’t beat, that’s Nery. Nery is the real deal! I’m telling you. The fans will get a chance to see him in the opening bout on FOX PPV this weekend, and he’s a very, very exciting young fighter. And his style is so unorthodox, you know, he brings something different to the table.

“You have some tremendous fighters at 118 and I think there’s some excellent matches that can be made, and I think coming into this fight — we gonna see what Nery brings to the table this Saturday night.”

Nery, while highly touted in the bantamweight division, also doesn’t have the cleanest reputation in the sport. even still, there’s really no denying how talented he actually is. So how would you break down a potential matchup between Inoue and Nery?
