British heavyweight Dillian Whyte has just been confirmed to be making an appearance on the undercard of Andy Ruiz’s rematch with Anthony Joshua on December 7th in Saudi Arabia. Whyte (26-1, 18 KOs) has been set to take on Mariusz Wach (35-5, 19 KOs), as mentioned by Adam Smith of Sky Sports.
“Anthony Joshua’s epic rematch night has even more heavyweight fireworks as Dillian Whyte battles Mariusz Wach on a bill which is brimming with big punchers.”
Whyte, 31, has been in something of a holding pattern the past few months as there were reports that he tested positive for a banned substance leading into his win over Oscar Rivas, but not much information has come out on that topic since. Whatever may be the case, Whyte has obviously been cleared to fight in Saudi next month.
Meanwhile Wach, 39, is coming off two consecutive stoppage wins over very low-level opposition in the past two months since losing three straight fights, two of them by knockout. Given his age and current form, I’d expect Whyte to be installed as a solid favorite to win in this outing.
