This afternoon there will be a lot of boxing action going on from both Birmingham, England, and Monte Carlo, so instead of trying to decide which to watch, since the cards are about equal on paper, we’ll just all convene here and watch whatever’s best at the moment, and talk about the fights and various other nonsense that comes to mind on a Saturday.
Both cards are starting at 2 pm ET.
On DAZN from Monte Caro, we’ll see Radzhab Butaev and Alexander Besputin fight for the vacant WBA “world” welterweight title, which doesn’t need to exist, really, but that goes for a lot of things in boxing. Cecilia Braekhus will also be in action against Victoria Bustos, plus Hughie Fury, Joe Cordina, and Zhilei Zhang lacing up in fights meant to be tune-ups, though Cordina is facing the very game Enrique Tinoco, who upset Jordan Gill on May 10 in Nottingham.
On ESPN+ from Birmingham, Zolani Tete will defend his WBO bantamweight title against John Riel Casimero, and we’ll have British titles on the line at super featherweight (Sam Bowen vs Anthony Cacace), welterweight (Chris Jenkins vs Liam Taylor), and super middleweight (Lerrone Richards vs Lennox Clarke for the vacant belt).
