Naoya Inoue vs Nonito Donaire: Final Press Conference

The two bantamweights will fight for world titles and the Muhammad Ali trophy on Thursday.

With the World Boxing Super Series gearing up for its bantamweight tournament’s final match between Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire, the two fighters we on hand for a final press conference before their meeting on Thursday in Japan. Fight Hype had footage of the press event from overseas, which can be seen above.

“Finally. That’s the honest feeling for myself,” Inoue would say through a translator. “A year ago this tournament has been started, a year later I’m at the final. And I’m fighting against Nonito Donaire, that I wished for. So I’m very grateful for that.

“I’ve been watching his fights even before I became professional and he’s one of the fighters who I admire. So I am truly proud of myself to be in the ring with him, and I think this is the day when I have to go over this huge wall.”

Nonito Donaire also shared a few of his thoughts on the fight.

“As a fighter you look for that moment, because I’ve accomplished so much, that I needed someone to get me to that moment of motivation, to bring back the youth again, that I had to be at my best. But being in this tournament has been just tremendous. The focus, and just all these young guys coming in and trying to prove themselves and trying to weed out the old generation. But so far I’ve proven I’m a wall that needs to be climbed — that it’s not an easy wall to climb.”
