Former four-division titleholder Mikey Garcia has signed a deal with Matchroom Boxing USA and will return to the ring on Feb. 29, nearly a year after his last bout.

Garcia, 32, got the major part of his career going with Top Rank, then jumped ship to Premier Boxing Champions, and now will give it a run with Matchroom.

In his last outing, Garcia (39-1, 30 KO) made a bold jump up to 147 pounds in seek of a title in a fifth weight class, but looked totally overmatched at the weight in a loss to Errol Spence Jr at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

It’s not totally clear from the press release what weight Garcia will fight at in February, but it’ll be either 140 or 147. The fight will stream on DAZN, of course.

“I am happy to announce my return to the ring for Feb. 29,” said Garcia. “I am eager to make my return and grow my legacy. I look forward to working with Matchroom Boxing USA and DAZN and I want to thank all my fans for the continued support.”

“I’ve been talking to Mikey for over a year now and I’m so happy to welcome him to the team,” said Hearn. “Mikey is a standout star and I’m looking forward to working with him on big fights moving forward. He will return to the ring on Feb. 29 and we will be announcing the opponent and venue shortly.”
