Top welterweight prospect Jaron “Boots” Ennis will get his 2020 started early, as he’s set to face Bakhtiyar Eyubov on Showtime’s Jan. 10 card, featuring Claressa Shields vs Ivana Habazin in the main event.

“I’m coming to make another statement to the welterweight division and the world,” said Ennis. “I’m going to let them know that I’m here and that 2020 will be my year. I’m the future of this division and January 10 is the next step in proving that.”

“On January 10, Jaron Ennis is going to be in the hardest fight of his life,” Eyubov said. “He has never faced anyone with my strength, skills and will to win. Bakha Bullet will shoot to do damage in Atlantic City and hand Ennis his first loss.”

Eyubov (14-1-1, 12 KO) is winless in his last two, and the 33-year-old Kazakh will be an obvious underdog here; in all reality, he seems pretty tailor made for Ennis (24-0, 22 KO) to roll again with another impressive victory. The 22-year-old Ennis went 2-0 this year after getting a promotional issue at least partially sorted.
