Three-time World Amateur Championships gold medalist and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Magomedrasul Majidov kicked off the Ruiz-Joshua 2 card today in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, stopping Tom Little in the second round.
Our live coverage for Ruiz vs Joshua 2 continues here!
Majidov goes to 2-0 (2 KO) as a pro, dropping Little (10-8, 3 KO) in the second round and then finishing him off standing when the referee stepped in, which was the right call. Little was still trying, but he was out of his depth here against the former amateur superstar.
Majidov, 33, is looking to move fast, which is the right move given his advanced age. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Matchroom move him toward a world title fight by the end of 2020 if possible. He’s not a huge guy for a pro heavyweight, but he looks like he’s got some real power. Little is no superstar by any means, though, so we’ll see what Majidov has going forward when the opponents get a bit tougher.
