Danny Garcia, out of action since April, has received a foe for his January 25th return to the ring in the form of Ivan Redkach, whom he’ll face as part of a PBC on Showtime card.

David Benavidez vs. Avni Yildirim has been linked to that date as well, though nothing is official.

Redkach (23-4-1, 18 KO) isn’t the worst opponent Garcia could have chosen, but he’s far from ideal. Though he’s coming off of a career-best knockout of Devon Alexander, he’s consistently fallen short in attempted steps up against the likes of Dejan Zlaticanin and John Molina Jr. Worse. he’s better-suited for 140 pounds and fairly chinny, so while he’ll absolutely come out slugging, it’s hard to see him lasting terribly long.

He’d been linked to a fight with Adrien Broner, which ultimately fell through.

Garcia (35-2, 21 KO), who may be looking at a date with Manny Pacquiao if he comes out of this unscatched, has fought just four times in the last three years, most recently brutalizing Adrian Granados in April. The win was enough go earn him the WBC mandatory spot, but champion Errol Spence Jr. is still recovering from a car accident.

I guess this isn’t the biggest mismatch Garcia’s had with someone nicknamed “El Terrible.”
