Tonight at 10 pm ET on Showtime, it’s a doubleheader event on ShoBox: The New Generation, featuring fights in the super middleweight and lightweight divisions, live from Rochester, New York.
In the 168-pound main event, Ronald Ellis (15-0-2, 10 KO) meets DeAndre Ware (12-1-2, 8 KO) in a 10-round fight. Ellis, 29, and Ware, 31, are both a little old for being prospects, so the time for them to jumpstart their careers is really now or never, and this is a truly important fight for both men. Three minor titles, all vacant, are on the line, and with them, positioning in sanctioning body rankings.
The 135-pound co-feature will see Thomas Mattice (13-0-1, 10 KO) return to ShoBox airwaves for an eight-round fight against Will Madera (12-0-2, 6 KO). Mattice, 28, fought both of his last two bouts on the series, a controversial win over Zhora Hamazaryan in July 2018, and then a draw in a rematch two months later. Madera, 28, is a local fighter from Albany, New York, looking to make a statement on national TV.
The previously scheduled opening bout between Abraham Nova and Oluwaseun Joshua Wahab was called off when Wahab had issues trying to enter the U.S. from Ghana.
