Joshua vs Miller: Champion and challenger promising knockouts on June 1

It was another heated presser today in London.

Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller met up again today in London, and both fighters promised to do damage when they meet on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Joshua (22-0, 21 KO), who will be defending the WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles, had this:

“Look at his face. I will reconstruct his face and his body. I’ve got 10 years left. This is all I know. I don’t know football, rugby, NFL, basketball. I know how to knock people out and beat them up. Every ounce of spirit he has, I will strip him of it. ... 100 percent, knock him clean out. A knockout needs to happen to announce myself in the States. He does the talking, I do the physical stuff.”

Challenger Miller (23-0-1, 20 KO) had his own promises:

“The game plan is to stop him in seven rounds. ... He ain’t got no chin. The fans can’t fight for him. He’s not the popular one anymore.”

The build-up to this fight has been pretty much as expected, as Miller has brought the heavy trash talk and Joshua has responded in kind, more or less. And the truth is, they’re both big punchers, big men, and there seems to be some real animosity brewing here. Heavyweight boxing fans tune in hoping to see knockouts. I think there’s a really good chance we see one in June.
