It’s been pretty open for a while now that Jaime Munguia’s next fight would be a mandatory defense of his WBO junior middleweight title against Dennis Hogan, and now the WBO has set a purse bid date of March 4, with a minimum bid of $200,000.
Munguia (32-0, 26 KO) is one of the top young stars in the sport right now. The 22-year-old Mexican brawler won the WBO 154-pound belt with an impressive demolition job against Sadam Ali in May 2018, and has followed up with successful defenses against Liam Smith, Brandon Cook, and Takeshi Inoue.
BoxRec have Munguia listed as fighting on April 13 in Monterrey, against an opponent to be named.
Hogan (28-1-1, 7 KO) is an Irish-born fighter now based in Australia. The 33-year-old is a fringe contender in all reality, a winner of six straight following a 2015 decision loss in Germany against Jack Culcay. None of his wins have been big, high-profile victories or anything, but he’s on a streak.
